ABOUT US

The Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA), a non-profit, voluntary Association established in 1995 to bring together growers and exporters and varied Stakeholders in the flower industry in Uganda. It is through the Association that we influence Government policies that affect and address competitiveness issues in the industry, monitor compliance to responsible production and social welfare practices build capacity of   flower farm employees and address Research and Development concerns.  

The Association is located in Entebbe, the port of exit for Uganda flower exports.  

The Association currently has 14 registered members, located in the central, south and south western Uganda. Farm ownership is made up of 9 local investors, and 6 direct foreign investors.  

The Business plan ( 2017 – 2021) focus is: To position the Industry for expansion and attracting investors to develop new production Promoting compliance through peer influence to meet local and international quality standards.

To be recognized in world floriculture markets as a major competitor distinguished by a reputation for quality, service and integrity.

THE MISSION

To promote and support development of Uganda’s floriculture industry by working with and through members and stakeholders to ensure product and service quality, protect the environment, and upgrade the quality of life for industry participants and their communities.

THE STRATEGY

Positioning the industry to support existing flowers farms to expand, Developing new production areas and Attracting new investors to meet the 5 years strategic plan targets (2017 – 2021) of increasing export volumes to 10,000 metric tons and export earnings to $ 50 million annually.

The Association is renowned for representing not only the Flower industry but also the Horticultural sector in general on competitiveness issues and an enabling environment for the Sector.  On behalf of members the Association liaises with government, Development partners, Labor unions, international companies and related stakeholders on specific industry issues. 

 

The Association nurtures strong partnerships and continuously engages with key Government ministries including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Finance, Uganda Investment Authority and the Uganda Free Zones Authority. The Association represents its members at various umbrella Associations and these include the Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Federation of Uganda Employers and the Uganda manufacturers Association.
